Step-Up & FCPS Panel

The Step-Up Club will host a "Community Partners Engagement Event" with representatives of the Migrant Education Program and the Refugee Support Initiative in the Fayette County Public Schools District. The event will be held in the Gatton Student Center in room 331. 

Step Up Program Showcase

Join us in celebrating the impact of the Step-Up Program on ELL Students in Lexington and the growth of the Program on the 5th of December from 3-4:30 in the Lucille Little Fine Arts Library at the Int. Students Services Office! We will have a guest speaker, Dr. Christia S. Brown! 

Step-Up Leaders Panel

The Step-Up Club will be hosting a panel of leaders from the different organizations that work with Step-Up. They are hoping for club members to learn more about the organizations Step-Up works with through this event and hopefully have more members interested in volunteering at different sites.

International Studies & Step-Up Meet & Greet

"Students & Faculty Meet and Greet" event scheduled for October 23, at 3:30-5:00pm in The90 120 F/G - Private Dining. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the International Studies major, the Step-Up program, our student-run organizations, the International Studies Honor Society, the Peace Corp Program, several Global Health Initiatives and Accelerated Masters Programs offered across various departments, while enjoying some good food and drinks.

VA Engagement Scholarship Conference

Panelists will discuss the challenges faced by migrant students, the role of university-community partnerships in educational support, and best practices for fostering inclusive learning environments. By highlighting the successes and lessons learned from Step-Up, this session will provide valuable perspectives on supporting migrant and refugee students in Kentucky and beyond.     Presenters

ESL Tour Fall 2024

These tours, which provide an introduction to college life and the admissions process, are a key component of the program's goal to help these students navigate the path to higher education. In the fall of 2024, the program hosted 115 students from four Fayette County high schools for campus tours.
